Neighborhood Meeting Recap

On behalf of the Northwood Neighborhood officers, I want to thank everyone who could attend our first meeting of 2023. We are excited to relaunch our association and look forward to the upcoming year.

The one action item included a proposal to set the frequency and format of future meetings. The proposal was made to hold two in-person meetings which included the meeting held this evening and an in-person meeting in the fall for the election of officers. Two additional meetings would be held virtually between the two in-person meetings. It was brought up that the meeting format is not covered in the bylaws which made it important to discuss and vote on this proposal. The proposal passed.

With respect to virtual meetings (via Zoom), the association will evaluate ways to help residents that need assistance accessing a virtual meeting. In addition, we will continue to consider the feasibility to implement a hybrid meeting format.

One notable information item was the announcement on the renewal of dues collection, which have been suspended since 2020 (due to COVID). The association will resume collecting dues, which will increase to $25 a year. The current payment can be in the form of cash, check, or PayPal. The NNA officers are looking at other e-commerce payment methods (such as Venmo).

We also took the opportunity to facilitate a discussion on volunteerism, upcoming events, the impact of the winter storm, and ongoing right-of-way construction. The NNA officers are developing a survey to aggregate incidents related to utility work.

Below are minutes from the meeting. Please email me if any members want us to consider changes by the next meeting, which is tentatively scheduled for May.
